Hi! My name is Leona Gohde, from Seoul International School, and I'm honored to serve as your deputy chair for BEIMUN XXXIII in the Security Council!
In this iteration of BEIMUN, the Security Council will delve into the complex issues of the Russo-Ukrainian War, a ticking time bomb painted by confusing leadership, brutal war tactics, and a humanitarian crisis. This issue will be yours to resolve, so think carefully, quickly, and responsibly (if thinking this way aligns with your country's stance, wink wink). Specifically, the status of POWs. In this war, POWs are a volatile issue, dancing on morality, sovereignty, and liberty; the rights of POWs and the human trade will serve as a labyrinth to this debate, and it's your job to establish a roadmap to escape it.
As a passionate delegate myself who knows the downsides of not participating, I encourage you all to push yourself during BEIMUN. Don't just develop answers- develop your skills, and I'm looking forward to seeing how all of you improve as delegates and leaders throughout the conference.
