Historical Security Council
Specialized committee that simulates the United Nations Security Council during a specific historical period. Through role play, the HSC focuses on addressing global conflicts, threats to peace, and issues related to international security that were relevant during a specific historical context.

Hello everyone! My name is Aiden Lassagne, and I'm an 11th grader at Singapore American School. I've been a part of the MUN program in my school since 9th grade, and I currently serve as the Vice President (and future President) of our school's Middle School MUN program. I've attended 10 conferences in the past and chaired 3 of them, and in doing so, I've gained a strong understanding of global relations and improved significantly in public speaking. MUN has been extremely rewarding and enjoyable for me, and I'm super excited not only to serve as your President for BEIMUN XXXIII, but to visit Beijing for the first time.

I am Irina Salazar-Hu, currently a sophomore at the International School of Beijing. I am thrilled to be chairing in BEIMUN HSC alongside Aditya and Aiden. BEIMUN is where I’ve grown from an admin, to a delegate, and now your chair; it’s a conference that has truly shaped me. Through my twelve conferences, I can confidently say participating in MUN has been one of the best decisions I have ever made; it has truly transformed me into a more knowledgeable and confident person while allowing me to gain many new friendships.
Conduct research, learn about your country’s stance, and prepare to implement feasible, tangible solutions, rather than creating more problems. We can be better than what history has shown.

Hey! I’m Aditya Mittal, a junior at Singapore American School who has been a part of our MUN program since my freshman year. Having delegated, chaired, mentored, and been a member of our own conference’s Secretariat team, I’ve had the opportunity to learn a lot about Model United Nations as an activity and gain valuable experience that I hope to bring to BEIMUN. The Historical Security Council is one of my favorite committees, and I love the idea of committee actually taking place as it would in the time period when the topic was relevant. I look forward to furthering my MUN experience and visiting (hopefully) snowy Beijing for the first time at BEIMUN!
