Dear delegates, My name is Benita He, a sophomore from Dulwich College Beijing, and it's an utmost honor to serve as President of the First General Assembly for BEIMUN Jr this year! Throughout the conference, GA1 will focus on the pressing issue of the housing crisis in metropolitan cities. Though it is an undeniably multifaceted and complex issue, I trust that all of you will be able to rise to the occasion to offer inclusive and original solutions to this global crisis. As your President, I am here to support you in bringing your ideas forward and empower you to learn, grow, and become a more confident individual-whether it is through research, debate, or collaboration. Thus, I encourage all of you to use BEIMUN Jr as a unique opportunity to make your voice heard, step out of your comfort zone, and, most importantly, develop a deep passion for MUN- whether that’s through engaging in inclusive dialogue, bringing your passion into debate, or embracing the MUN community. Greetings, My name is Jessica Chang, a sophomore attending Dulwich College Beijing. It is my utmost honor to serve as your President of GA2 for BEIMUN Jr. this year. This upcoming conference marks my 3rd conference as a chair, across committees including the Human Rights Council and World Health Assembly. Model United Nations has taught me that the best diplomacy rarely happens when everyone agrees. Some of the most memorable moments come from having two completely different perspectives collide, forcing everyone in the room to reconsider their assumptions and find a way forward. Therefore, I look forward to hearing your varied perspectives and insights. As your Chair, I intend to hold this committee to a high standard. I value clear argumentation, informed debate, professional conduct, and meaningful diplomacy. I will always encourage ambiguous ideas and strong, engaging discussions. Hello delegates, my name is Aidan Moore, a Year 10 student attending Dulwich College Beijing, and I am honored to serve as your President Chair for ECOSOC in this iteration of BEIMUN Jr. This conference marks my 11th conference as well as my fourth year in MUN. I’ve come to learn that the best committees are built on collaboration rather than competition, and that is the sort of committee I hope we can create. MUN is a place where you can meet new people, so talk to the people around you. It also is where you can challenge yourself. So don’t be afraid to raise that POI and say that speech. Whether this is your first conference or your tenth, I hope you can leave as a more confident person. I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi everyone! My name is Yena Han, and I’m super excited to be serving as your President of the Human Rights Council at BEIMUN Jr. MUN! This will be my 14th MUN conference and my 4th time chairing, and I’m really looking forward to being back on the dais and meeting all of you! Having experienced MUN from both the delegate and chair perspectives, I know how exciting, intense, and sometimes chaotic committee can be, and I hope to make this a fun and memorable experience for everyone. As your President, I want to create a committee where everyone feels comfortable speaking up, challenging ideas, and engaging in meaningful debate. Hello delegates, My name is Vanessa Chen, and I’m currently a junior attending Dulwich College Beijing (DCB). I’m honored to serve as your President of the Human Rights Council 2 for BEIMUN Jr., which will serve as my ninth conference and my fourth as a student officer. From the very beginning, MUN has been an experience that further broadens my understanding of the current geopolitical climate, as well as honing my debate and public speaking skills. As of today, there are approximately 30 civil wars going on in the world. For one, the civil war in Sudan starting in April 2023 has displaced 9 million civilians in Sudan and 4.4 million across borders. This is why I believe that the topic this year, “Addressing the protection and rights of refugees in civil wars” is of extreme importance. Although this topic seems daunting, I am confident that you delegates will be able to tackle this topic with responsibility and practicality. Hello delegates and welcome to BEIMUN Jr. IV! My name is Anitra Coelho, a Year 12 student at Dulwich College Beijing, and I am beyond honoured to be able to serve as President of the Environment Commission. I have been part of BEIMUN Jr. right from its inception- rising through the ranks as a best delegate, assistant president, and now my second time being a president here. Model UN has been a thoroughly transformative experience for me- teaching me how to debate, lead, and above all, compromise. It is for this exact reason that whether you are an inexperienced delegate, or one who has been to 6 conferences already, that you will be perpetually learning from the others in your committee- while of course having fun along the way! This year, ENV tackles a particularly recent issue regarding AI’s environmental disruptions- a phenomenon that is only set to grow globally. Therefore, as we now discuss an issue that truly does affect us all, I urge you all to recalibrate your thinking and embrace the idea of solutions that can be adaptable to the world we live in today. My name is Miu Miu Wang, a Year 10 student at the British School of Beijing Shunyi, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the President of ENV 2 for this year. Over the past 5 years, I have participated in several conferences, gaining lots of meaningful experiences as a delegate and as a chair. Looking back, I know exactly what it feels like to be worried and a little nervous during debate, so I would be here for help and to support you and to answer any questions you have. Honorable student officers, esteemed delegates, and distinguished guests, My name is Avery Hung. I am honored to serve as your chair for BEIMUN Jr. This is my third time chairing, and this is my eight conference. MUN is an splendid experience, and I hope everybody has something they like about it, whether it is arguing with others, coming up with solutions, and putting yourself into the shoes of world leaders and diplomats. I’m there, along with Eric, to make sure everything runs smoothly, everyone tries their best, and has a graet experience. We will arrive to the committee room to motivate and cheer people up. If you are a beginner needing help, somebody who wants MUN to be a fun experience, or somebody advanced who worries about not being called on enough, don’t worry. This committee and space is FOR YOU. Hopefully it can be where everybody is locked in, engaged, and there is never a silent moment. Security council is pretty challenging sometimes. I just want to include some basic tips – we debate clause by clause, the pernament five nations have veto power to use whenever the disagree on something. We’ll be talking about the Sudan Civil War, which is an extremely brutal conflict happening right now. Hopefully everyone can come together to find a solution.
