The BEIMUN XXIX Secretariat
BEIMUN China
Dear all,
We’re delighted to announce that our first ever Beijing Model United Nations China conference is now in preparation. BEIMUN China will be hosted from October 8th to 10th, 2021 at the International School of Beijing. Please be reminded that BEIMUN China will be a fully in-person conference, hence will only be open to schools within China whose students will be able to travel to Beijing without restrictions. Schools unable to attend BEIMUN China will still be able to participate in our online BEIMUN XXIX conference, scheduled to take place from February 24-27, 2022.
The theme for our first ever BEIMUN China conference is “Resilience in the Face of Uncertainty.” The COVID-19 pandemic has redefined our understanding of normalcy and transformed how we perceive the world. Although the brunt of the pandemic seems to have passed, lingering repercussions continue to create ripples that affect nations and individuals alike. It is now time to look ahead to rebuilding international cooperation, addressing critical global issues that have worsened due to the pandemic, while striving for a rapid recovery. At times like this, we have to strengthen ourselves and our communities, put away our differences, and focus on the challenges at hand to forge a path forward through the sea of uncertainties.
BEIMUN has a proud history of serving as a platform for global-minded debate and discussion amongst the leaders of tomorrow. We hope to see you join us in this engaging experience in October.
Sincerely,
Eric Xie, Young Soo Kim, Si In Park, Shane Lim, Ray Fang

Dear MUN Directors and Chair-applicants,
Thank you for all of your support for the BEIMUN conference. We have made some changes to our conference logistics.
For starters, due to the increasing interest in the online version of our conference, we have decided to make every committee in BEIMUN (except the security council) include an option. GA1, ECOSOC, ENV, and HRC will include separate in-person and online committees while WHA and DIS will be online exclusive. SC will still remain as an in-person conference the only committee. If any applying student officers applied for the online conference before the change and would like to signup for the other committees, please redo the student officer application. Otherwise, we will simply use your previous application as your final application.
In addition, we have replaced the "The question of the situation in Mali" with "The question of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh" in the Security Council. We have not replaced any of the other topics in the other committees.
Again, we would like to thank you for your commitment to BEIMUN. If you have any further questions, please contact our director, Dr. Maloney, through email: KMaloney@isb.bj.edu.cn.
Best Regards,
Shawn Teh, Emma Liu, Gina Yoo, Eric Xie
BEIMUN XXVIII Secretariat
September 1, 2020
Dear MUN Directors and Advisors,
Welcome to our new BEIMUN website. As previously stated on our old site, we have kept our promise in updating most of the necessary information by September 1st. We have spent many hours preparing for this launch and will continue to keep on working as hard to have a successful BEIMUN.
As of now, we have updated the committees and topics for BEIMUN XXVIII along with form 1 registration and student officer applications on the website. The transportation and accommodation pages, however, will be updated at a later date. We will announce once we have updated those pages through email and this tab right here. Also, we will not be offering any tours, unlike previous BEIMUNs, due to the coronavirus situation.
As for information regarding the conference itself, BEIMUN XXVIII will be held as a hybrid conference from February 25 - 28, 2020. How the hybrid conference will work is that schools may choose to either attend the in-person conference or online conference. We recommend schools in China to take the in-person option while foreign schools visit the online option. The price currently for the in-person version of BEIMUN XXVIII will be 700RMB per participant, while the online version will be completely free. BEIMUN XXVIII will have a total of 7 committees, with two being online committees, which are the Disarmament Commission and the World Health Assembly. If your school is signing up for the online option and you have students wanting to sign up for the student officer position, please notify them to only apply for the online committees. The same applies to those attending the in-person conference, only apply for in-person committees. For more information, please check out our FAQ page.
We appreciate your understanding of these changes at such a time. We will post future announcements through here so please make sure to pay attention to any updates on this page. If you have any further questions, please reach out to our director KMaloney@isb.bj.edu.cn. We look forward to seeing you all at BEIMUN XXVIII.
Best Regards,
Shawn Teh, Emma Liu, Gina Yoo, Eric Xie
