Q. How do schools register to take part in BEIMUN?
Please refer to the Registration tab on the BEIMUN website.
Q. What are the registration deadlines?
Form I deadline: Approx. beginning of November
Student Officer Application: Approx. beginning of November
Form 2 emailed out to directors: Approx. beginning of November
Form 2 due from participating schools: Approx. end of December
Payment due: Approx. mid-January.
Q. What is the registration fee?
The registration fee is 700 RMB or 100USD per attendee, whether that person is a participating delegate, MUN director, chaperone or other.
All registration fees should be paid by bank transfer.
Q. Will BEIMUN issue a fapiao to schools that request it?
BEIMUN does not issue a fapiao. However, we will provide an official receipt with financial chop. These will be given to the directors in physical form at the conference.
Q. Can students from participating schools apply for leadership positions?
Yes. While the secretariat positions are always held by ISB students, students from other schools may apply for chair positions through the Student Officer Applications page under the Registration tab.
TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION AND SIGHTSEEING
Q. Are visas required for visitors to China?
Visas will be required for visitors upon entry to China. Please apply 1 or 2 months before your planned date for visit to allow for necessary processing —the visa letter request form can be found here. Passports must be valid for at least six months. All foreign passport holders need a visa before their arrival in China and this process can take several weeks. Please plan to request the required Invitation Letter in January. Be advised that the regulations change frequently and in the past passports from certain geographic regions have had trouble obtaining visas and/or have been rejected by the Embassy in their home country.
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee visa approval and we cannot offer any assistance other than the invitation letter.
Q. Where can I find information on accommodations, hotels, and busing to and from the conference?

Q. Does BEIMUN offer home stays to visiting students?
Unfortunately, due to the large number of participants, the International School of Beijing will not be able to offer home stays.
Q. Does BEIMUN have a recommended tour operator for sightseeing opportunities?
Yes. More information can be found on the Tours page under the Lodging/Transportation tab.
Q. Will BEIMUN arrange airport transport and daily transportation for participating schools?
While BEIMUN will not arrange for transport to and from the airport, we will be offering daily transport from to and from our recommended hotels to ISB. We recommend that you contact HunTours, our recommended tour operator, for transport from the airport. Their contact information can be found here, under "Transportation".
CONFERENCE PREPARATION AND PARTICIPATION
Q. Does BEIMUN follow THIMUN rules of procedure?
Yes. BEIMUN is a THIMUN affiliated conference, and all debate is run according to THIMUN protocol which can be found here.
Q. Is formal dress required for the conference?
Yes. Formal dress is required for the conference. Delegates are expected to dress in a manner which is professional —please see this slideshow for more details. It should be noted that male delegates must wear a blazer when speaking at the podium.
Q. Do delegates need to give opening speeches?
In order to maximize lobbying and debate time, BEIMUN will not have delegate opening speeches.
Q. Do ambassadors need to be appointed for each delegation?
There is no need to appoint ambassadors as there are no opening speeches.
Q. Does BEIMUN publish resources for delegate preparation and/or topic preparation?
Q. Can I access YouTube/Google Drive in Beijing?
Unfortunately, due to restrictions imposed by the Chinese government,YouTube/Google Drive cannot be accessed in Beijing. If it is imperative that you must access these sites, it is recommended that you purchase a VPN service before arrival in Beijing.
At the conference itself, you will be able to access Youtube/Google Drive through the school wifi provided.
Q. Are meals provided at the conference?
Meals are included in the registration fee and will be provided at the conference.
Q. Are there vegetarian/kosher/halal/vegan dining options?
While we work with our vendors to accommodate specific meal requests, they are often lost in translation and therefore cannot be guaranteed. We do our best to offer a variety that will suit all dietary restrictions but those needing gluten free, halal, dairy free, etc. should ask the Director or the Secretariat prior to consuming anything to ensure that the ingredients are acceptable.
Q. Do MUN directors and chaperones need to be on campus for the whole duration of the conference?
Yes. In accordance with school and conference policy, one responsible adult from each school needs to remain on campus during the conference. The only exception to this rule is the Student Officer training session on the first day, during which student officers are allowed to be at school unaccompanied.
